Webinar Series 3 - Creating a period-positive culture and debunking myths.
In March and April 2021, Eco Femme hosted a 4 part peer learning series titled: Menstrual education in rural communities - Expanding the conversation, widening our lens! This is the third recording in the series on the topic: Debunking the myth that period blood is dirty and how to promote a more a period positive culture This session went into the heart of the menstrual taboo and explored how well framed conversations can help us write a new cultural story that is more period positive. All panelists spoke passionately about how exactly you can challenge cultural norms in a way that is non-threatening, evokes curiosity and invites a shift in thinking and more! This series was created to support menstrual health educators in building the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver effective menstrual educational sessions to women and girls in areas where learning is not accessed online - typically rural, tribal and low income settings. During this session Lauren and Kathy from Eco Femme were joined by a fabulous panel of experienced educators who had wonderful ideas and tips to share based on their extensive experience of doing this work in some really diverse and sometimes challenging settings.
