Sri Aurobindo was an eminent scholar and poet, a revolutionary and early leader of the campaign for a free India, and a yogi. He bridged the spirituality and philosophy of east and west, and inspired a new understanding of the roots of yoga as manifested in the Vedas and Upanishads. His vision of a future in which division and enmity are overcome by love and harmony, and his integral teaching that "All Life is Yoga" led to the founding of Auroville. August 15th 2022 marks 150 years since Sri Aurobindo's birth, and today Auroville begins a yearlong tribute: a celebration of his life, work, vision, philosophy and creative force and their relevance for India and the world and in the life and realization of Auroville.
