Blessings Photo Exhibition at Savitri Bhavan | July 22 - August 10, 2022
Savitri Bhavan held a photo exhibition entitled Blessings: A Unique Vision of The Mother and Sri Aurobindo from the 22nd of July to the 10th of August, 2022. The exhibit featured images by Henri Cartier-Bresson and others. A photographer since the 1930s, Henri Cartier-Bresson was introduced to the Mother by Francois Baron, the then-Commissary of Pondicherry while it was still under French rule. He was well-received by the Mother and gave him permission to take pictures of activities in the Ashram, which eventually led to him being granted permission to include her and Sri Aurobindo in his images. The photographs shown in this exhibition were printed on the original barite paper after the negatives were handed over by Magnum to the Mother.
