Last Week in Buddha Garden April 17th - April 22nd 2023
The sun had a devastating effect on some of the pumpkins we planted this week as a lot of them died. We replanted snake gourd and lukki but even they suffered although, unlike the pumpkins, more of them survived. The time had come to dig out the sweet potatoes which we used for making compost and finished our first compost heap – which took three weeks to complete. We were surprised to find that the pigs left us more sweet potatoes than we expected. April 14th was Tamil New Year and on the next day one of our volunteers from Kerala organized a ritual that happens there this time of year. As always our peeple tree provided us with a practical demonstration of nature renewing itself.
